By the closing days of 1936, Franco's administration had become more rigorous, and propaganda efforts increased. The censorship tightened and the slogan "Una Patria Un Estado Un Caudillo" (an obvious imitation of "Ein Volk Ein Reich Ein Führer") began to be used.
